With a substantial amount of the world’s population, and consequently its skyscraper construction, still growing in areas of high seismicity, it is incumbent upon the industry to continue to introduce new and better solutions for mitigating the effects of seismic events. From base and inter-story isolation systems, to improvements in raft foundations and façade elements, the level of investment in seismic mitigation technology has increased along with the sophistication of the practice. Particular advances have been made in performance-based seismic design (PBSD), which can be implemented when local code provides insufficient guidance. This workshop brings together the leading practitioners in tall building seismic design, to deliver updates on the state of the art and contemplate new trends.
