Abu Dhabi - Day 6A: Financial Free Zone as Polycenter

25 October 2018
8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Part of the financial free zone of Al Maryah Island, the “Manhattan of the Middle East,” Abu Dhabi Global Market Square is a major new commercial development. The city’s new urban framework plan, entitled Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, has designated the previously undeveloped island and the adjacent edges of Mina Zayed and Reem Island as the city’s new Central Business District. The project totals over 450,000 square meters of office, retail and hotel development, and features the iconic new headquarters building for the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, surrounded by four office towers, all overlooking the water. In addition, the project integrates two levels of retail and two parking structures. A generous landscaped plaza connects the four buildings and the exchange. Abu Dhabi Global Market Square was recognized as the winner of the “Best Tall Building Middle East & Africa” Award in the 2013 CTBUH Awards Program. Join this program to see how the project and the island fit into the overall strategy of Abu Dhabi’s development plan.
