The world’s tallest building. A living wonder. A stunning work of art. An incomparable feat of engineering. Burj Khalifa is all of that. In concept and execution, Burj Khalifa has no peer. More than just the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa is an unprecedented example of international cooperation, a symbolic beacon of progress, and an emblem of the new, dynamic and prosperous Middle East. It is also tangible proof of Dubai's growing role in a changing world. In fewer than 30 years, this city has transformed itself from a regional center to a global one. This success was not based on reserves of oil, but rather on reserves of human talent, ingenuity and initiative. Burj Khalifa embodies that vision. In terms of Facilities Management, the team has implemented an innovative and technologically advanced Operations and Maintenance strategy (including smart technologies such as IoT, RCM, ECM, CMMS, and smart metering) to monitor, measure, manage and excel in maintenance, sustainability and energy.

This presentation recognizes the key aspects of maintaining a megatall skyscraper. It examinines the myriad challenges faced throughout implementation. It facilitates discovery of the integrated approach to automation of the world’s tallest icon. It examines the implementation of Energy Centered Maintenance (ECM). It covers the monitoring of staff productivity and measuring of asset reliability, and details how this directly impacts the maintenance cost of a world-class asset. It discusses the benefits of embracing a systematic way of maintenance, and details the way categorizing assets will help in maintenance decision-making and in optimizing maintenance cost.
