Some of the most relevant ideas about the future of the built environment are being developed in Dubai, and will be showcased at the Museum of the Future, in an eye-catching ring-shaped building along Sheik Zayed Road. Part-incubator, part-showroom, the Museum will be the permanent home of some of the world’s more prominent innovations, which will serve to stimulate imaginative solutions for a challenging future. A smaller-scale prototype of the Museum, the Office of the Future, is thought to be the world’s first 3-D printed office building, and is already on-site.

About Museum of The Future

The world’s first fully functional and permanently occupied 3D printed building has been completed in Dubai, UAE. The Office of the Future building is currently the temporary home for the Dubai Future Foundation, as well as an exhibition space and incubator for future emerging technologies in the region. The structure of the building was manufactured using an additive concrete “printing” technique using a 3D printer 6 meters high, 36.5 meters long and 12 meters wide. The cladding was fabricated using insulated panels, custom cut to form the complex geometry of the façade. The various sensors and probes on the building provide continuous feedback on its structural performance and can offer designers of future 3D printed high-rise buildings valuable information that can feed into… Read More
